Benholm and Johnshaven Heritage Hub Museum
Aberdeenshire

Benholm and Johnshaven Heritage Hub Museum is located in the centre of the historic fishing village of Johnshaven within the Old Lifeboat House which was established in 1891. Run by a dedicated group of volunteers who are passionate about preserving the history and heritage of our local area, the museum offers visitors a fantastic hands-on visitor experience telling the story of Benholm and Johnshaven during wartimes.
Our exhibition includes the first-hand memories and accounts of local residents during wartime, allowing us to pass down our heritage to the next generations.
2023 is a special year in the history and heritage of Johnshaven as it marks the centenary of the Benholm and Johnshaven War Memorial. Benholm and Johnshaven Heritage Society received funding from Aberdeenshire Council’s Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee and the Coastal Communities Fund to help us mark this occasion and curate a brand-new exhibition. Our volunteers will be on duty to answer any questions. We have things for all the family to do including dressing up and a soldier hunt for the children.
