St Margaret's Church, Huntly

Aberdeenshire

In Person

The Parishioners of St Margaret’s invite you to visit this beautiful A listed octagonal church. The church was built in 1834 with the support of the influential Gordon family of Wardhouse. Located on a prominent corner site, its unusual Spanish Baroque tower and spire is presented to its best advantage. The colourful interior gives a warm and uplifting welcome and your eyes will be drawn by the stencilling, large oil paintings, the intricate altar design and magnificent ceiling. You can also learn about the interesting history and links to Jerez-Gordon Sherry.

The church continues to be at the heart of an active community, hosting a weekly welcome café through the winter and having an active church choir, whose music will be shared during the Doors Open Days event.

A host will welcome visitors and answer any questions. We will have information on the history of the Church, and the story of St Margaret of Scotland.

St Margaret’s Church choir and organ music will show off the exceptional acoustics of the octagonal church.
