Pen-y-Coe Press and Papermaking Heritage Centre
Midlothian

The Pen-y-Coe Press is a living museum, a shop environment from the middle of the 20th century still operating as a retail stationer and printers, open Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 – 16.00. The adjacent Papermaking Heritage Museum illustrates a comprehensive history of papermaking and how Penicuik became one of the most important papermaking centres in the world. Six mills in the town and 3 centuries of continuous manufacture!
Visitors on Doors Open Day will be able to assemble a printing galley of type and see the vintage Heidelberg letterpress. Visitors can take a self-guided or guided tour around the museum. Children can follow the tortoise trail and there will be an opportunity for all visitors to make paper.
Guided tours at 10.30 am, 12.00 noon, 2 pm and 3.30 pm.
